the challenge, at least for the reading group I belong to on FB, is to inspire you to read. I started doing it as a way to get out of a reading genre slump that I had been in. I found myself constantly going to the same type of books over and over and I was getting board. But then a co-worker introduced me to the challenge and it got me to love reading again and I greatly enjoy finding things that I otherwise would never have read. In my group some of us like me try for a different book for each topic. Others try to see how many topics one book will cover. It's all for fun and how you want to interpret the rules.
Last year I also started the A-Z challenges both Author and Title. The Author one I usually do an author whose last name starts with the letter of the alphabet. And title I do the first letter of the first word of the title (not counting the words The/An/A
But each topic/challenge at least for me is how you choose to interpret them.
